Michael got a reaction from TurboEd in Timeslip System v2 Update
The Timeslip System has just been updated to v2, this version is a complete rewrite of the entire Timeslip code with a few new major features introduced. The code and layout has been improved to IPB 3.4.x standards.

View the latest Timeslip product page here.

    Major Changes:
Better garage integration now included, when adding a timeslip you just need to select the garage vehicle and that vehicle name will be used. Timeslip Events have been introduced. This will allow you to have members add timeslips to certain events if desired and for timeslips to be filtered by events if needed. Custom fields are now included with timeslips. These fields can be displayed optionally on the main page or just left to the timeslip page. Permissions and some settings are now per group user options. This includes new timeslip moderation and timeslips allowed per member.
    Additional Changes:
Complete overhaul of the main page, my submissions and old control panel. This pages are now combined into 1 page with better filter options. New disable fields option to disable fields that your community may not use. Fields will be completely removed from view if disabled. Enhanced advanced statistics, with options for more fields. Automatic resize of timeslip or dyno images that exceed maximum height or width settings. Sidebar hook improvements that allow you to choose which field will be used for display and how they will be ordered. e.g. Display newest timeslips or fastest 1/4 mile et.
To update, download the latest files from your client centre. Re-upload then run the upgrade script in your admin cp.

I've created this topic to keep everyone updated on the status of each mods compatibility with IPB 3.4. Like previous upgrades I'll have no set order of upgrade or estimates on when each mod will be upgraded. Until I can test with IPB 3.4 itself I won't be able to give any indication of what will be needed for this update.

    Mod Changes:
Phase out of the (M##) tags in the files and readmes. Will still retain this prefix in my actual mod listings. Interested to know if users of my mods find my prefix tag useful? Shift readme/install instructions and documentation to the tutorials section of these forums.
Fix any bugs that come from the IP.Board 3.4.x update.

Some may notice a few changes in the forum layout and structure. Running a 3rd party support forum like DevFuse has changed a lot since the IPSBeyond days. With this in mind I have made some small changes to these forums. These changes were made so I can shift back to being a support site exclusively for my own mods rather then a general 3rd party support site for IPB. Some of the major changes are listed below:

Old IPB 2.3 and 3.0 legacy content has been removed. This includes files and tutorials.
I've removed the skinning section. This is part of a move to shift back to my core features, which were always modifications and tutorials.
The IPB support forum is now only accessible to DevFuse customers.
The downloads section IPB modifications category will no longer accept new additions from other modders.

Michael got a reaction from Pyros777 in Introducing Form Manager
I am pleased to introduce my latest application, the Form Manager. The idea for a form manager first came about during the early days of development for Contact System. With each update to the Contact System came the ability to setup different alerts per subject and eventually the ability to add custom fields. The Form Manager is the next step in this development.

View Form Manager product page here.
View the Form Manager on these forums with demo forms here.
Report any bugs you find here.

    What is the Form Manager?
The Form Manager is a new application that has been completely rewritten but the idea and features are based on the Contact System. Instead of just the 1 contact form that was present with the Contact System, with the ability to add subjects and custom fields. The Form Manager allows you to setup multiple forms, with each form still allowing email, pm and topic alerts. And the ability to add custom fields to that form.

    Why make a Form Manager?
Since starting the Contact System in 2005 more and more interest has occurred around using the Contact System for different type of forms. Subsequent updates have allowed the Contact System to be more then a simple feedback form. But to meet the demand of multiple forms, I decide the best way would be a complete re-write of everything was needed in a new application. And a converter tool that would convert the Contact System data to the Form Manager. This allows the transition from the Contact System to Form Manager to be done more slowly and not forced upon customers with an update.

    What about the Contact System?
All Contact System customers will automatically be upgraded to the Form Manager for free. But to fulfill my obligations to those who purchased before today, the Contact System will still be offered as an extra to the Form Manager in the client centre. I will still offer support, issue bug fixes and updates for new versions of IPB. Updates will continue like normal.

As it's been in development for the last several years, I am very much aware a lot of long term customers are still using it. For this reason I will not have a fixed date on when the Contact System will become EOL (End of life). Obviously I won't be supporting both indefinitely but the transition will be slow and allow time for everyone.

What are the differences with the Contact System?
You can view the products page of the Form Manager to view the differences between the latest version of the Contact System and Form Manager. There are a few minor changes due to technical and coding reasons. But subsequent updates to the Form Manager will close that gap. The Form Manager does however have several new features that are not present in the Contact System. There has also been a price increase for the Form Manager. This is in part due to the major increase in features and ability of the Form Manager and also reflects that the Contact System price hasn't changed for some years now.

    What about the IPS Marketplace?
This is my biggest modification launch yet, so I will be staging the release to allow time for the expected support load increase. My ETA when the Form Manager will be available in the marketplace would be a few weeks.

    Future of Form Manager
Over the next few months, the Form Manger will have a majority of my development time. I expect a bug fixing update very soon after this initial release. With new features already planned soon after. I've got a lot of feedback for this change and I'm hopeful most will support it. But for those who have concerns, please either reply here or PM with your concerns.

Michael reacted to PrinceOfAbyss in Garage system feedback
I was doing some tidy in the uploads folder... Inevitably, soon it was the turn of garage_images folder... :P

First of all, I opened the appropriate table and there were 1316 records of images (vehicle and modification ones).

So, if everything had been OK, there should have been 1316 * 2 + 1 (index.html) files in the folder... Unfortunately, there were 3000+ :P

I didn't have a way to check which of the image files were actually stored in the DB, and which were left overs from deleted vehicles/members.

    1. So at first, I deleted ALL thumbnails.
    2. Then, in ACP I rebuilt all thumbnails to see how many thumbnails were created (there were created 1314).
    3. After the rebuild, I manually deleted through FTP all files which didn't have a thumbnail (that weren't a pair: image + thumb).
    4. So, indeed I was left with 1314 * 2 + 1 files in the FTP.
    5. Next, I had to discover which 2 (1316 records - 1314 files) of the records in the table were orphaned.
    6. In MS Excel, I pasted all image_url fields of those records.
    7. Then, I completed in Excel the rest of the image paths (adding <img src="http://www.mydomain.tld/forum/uploads/garage_images/[image_url]" alt="alt" />
    8. I pasted in an html file the 1316 img tags.
    9. I uploaded the tmp html file and opened it in a browser.
    10. The browser crashed after opening about 400+ images.
    11. I split the img tags in 4 tmp html files each having about 300+ image tags.
    12. I opened all html files one by one, waiting for them to load, to discover which 2 images were displayed as their alt.
    13. I found them and erased those records from the table.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, add a task to delete orphaned records from the table, and also delete orphaned files from the garage_images folder. What I described above took me 2.5 hours to implement...
