jmmc
Hey there! - It's my first post here :D and I have some questions about my forum. I'm currently using a version of IP.Board 3.0.x but I'd like to know what's the exact one, p.e. if it's the 3.0.2, 3.0.5 or something, can I see that somewhere on the Admin CP or somewhere else since it doesn't show on the footer? - I didn't find a IPB 3.0.x Support on this category but since this is kinda related to the 3.1.x version because of this next question I thought it was ok for me to leave it here: so I wanted to upgrade my forum to the latest 3.1.x version and I wanted to know if I should do it the same way tutorials explain for the 3.0.0 to 3.0.5 per example? like put the forum offline and then only necessary to upload by replacing all the current files and folders of the new version's except 'conf_global.php' and the folders 'uploads' and 'hooks', logging in to the AdminCP and the red message shows for me to "refresh"/upgrade? or is it a different way now from 3.0.x to 3.1.x? - I also had several errors and bugs (that I think I was able to fix) on my forum after it went through a server change that my host made a few months ago and had the forum transfered I believe. However, I'm not sure if it's related probably not, but one of my members profile isn't working and I get the error: Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/kforum/public_html/admin/sources/classes/bbcode/core.php on line 666 His signature has a bit more text than we usually see in a signature but idk if that's the problem? I don't have any mods currently installed on the forum. Thank you very much in advance and sorry for taking your time with this!
Management Michael Posted December 21, 2010 Management Report Share Posted December 21, 2010 Your have yet to fill in your IP.Board forum url or the url you filled in is unresponsive. IP.Board support is only offered to members who have filled in there IP.Board forum url in your control panel. Thanks for understanding. Management Michael Posted December 22, 2010 Management Report Share Posted December 22, 2010 You can find the IPB version number in your Admin CP. Login and go to the Support tab, under the system overview area you'll see the IPB version number. The easiest way to upgrade to IPB 3.1.x would probably be to re-upload all the files again then run the yourboard.com/admin/upgrade/ url to run the upgrade script. And yes usually a good idea to take the forum offline temporarily, be sure to also backup before starting anything. Must have a lot in the signature to cause a timeout, try setting his signature to blank to see if that's the case.
jmmc
Thank you! I'll try to upgrade then :) I was also wondering something else, regarding the backup you mentioned, do you mean to save a copy of the folders I wish to keep ('conf_global.php' and the folders 'uploads' and 'hooks'), or should I do something else? Thanks once again!

Thanks once again! Yes, backup the forum database and also the uploads folder. So you can have a copy of your members attachments, avatars, profile pics etc... Also if you've got other mods installed like IP.Downloads, you'd want the screenshots and downloads folders as well.
jmmc
Ok, thank you very much! I don't have any mods installed so I guess I only need to save a copy of the folders and the forum database. Out of curiosity btw, is there a way to download the forum database via Admin CP or is it necessary to do it via cPanel?
Management Michael Posted December 22, 2010 Management Report Share Posted December 22, 2010 You can export each database table from the Admin CP but for the whole database, yes Cpanel would probably be the best. I personally use Cpanel "generate full backup".
