Donations not being saved

A troubleshooting list for when donations are not being saved in the Donation Tracker.

One of the most common problems among new users of the Donation Tracker is when donations are not being saved in the Donation Tracker. Therefore I've put together this list of the most common problems. If you've been directed hear from a support ticket, be sure to reply with as much detail to the following troubleshooting points.

IP.Board / Donation Tracker Related:
  • If you force guests to login before accessing your board, make sure you apply the file edit mentioned in the Readme Install file. This edits allows the payment processor to view the payment function without getting the guest error message.
  • Make sure the donations are indeed being made through the Donation Tracker. The item number in the Paypal transaction email should be the member id of the donating member.
  • Check if donations have been recorded but are currently set to hidden/inactive status. Open your Admin CP > Other Apps dropdown > Donation Tracker > Manage Donations.
  • Check if any donation logs have been recorded, if so be sure to report back the log details. Open your Admin CP > Other Apps dropdown > Donation Tracker > Payment Logs.
Payment Processor (Paypal) Related:
  • Were these donations eChecks or require your approval when viewing them at the Paypal website?
  • Are they non default currency donations and require approval? You can change the settings in Paypal to accept non default currency donations and convert them into your default currency.
  • Check if you have any ipn history logged. You can check this in Paypal > History tab dropdown > IPN History. Look for a log date that corresponds to when you received a donation. Click the "Message ID" field will show the full ipn log. Make sure you provide a copy and paste of this log to help in troubleshooting the problem.
  • Do you have the IPN enabled? You can check this by logging into Paypal > Profile tab > My selling tools > Instant payment notifications > Update. Make sure you have the ipn set to on.
