Much like the Calendar topics app that you do.

Blogs - create a link to the blog entry as a new forum topic

Gallery - create a link to the Gallery as a new forum topic


maybe hook in to the 'my media' tabs for gallery images/gallery albums and blog 'entries'


not quite sure on requirements, other than peoples exposure to new content outside of the main forums is somewhat limited, blocks are fine, but a forum topic is much more familiar ground. Also blocks are too easily hidden.
