Hello!
I have a problem that is apparently the exact opposite of everyone else! My forums are very sensitive, and with members accessing them from all over europe, sometime in web cafes etc, they sometimes have a regular habbit of forgetting to sign out.
I have to admit. I do not have my head around the relationship between cookies/sessions/member-sessions etc when it comes to IPB, all I can do is describe my problem and ask for some help.
What I would like:
- I would like ALL logged in members who have not visited a page on the forum, or done anything active with it for 30mins to be logged out/force logged out automatically.
- This should also apply immediately, (ie less than 30mins) if a user closes their browser.
- I should be able to set the time out value easily.
- A hook?
What I have noticed:
- I have set all the options in the CP (session expiry etc) to 30mins (30x60=1800sec).
- I have disabled anonymous logins.
- Cookies are set to default values, no messing with them.
- Yet regulary, a lot of my members (including me!) can log in one afternoon, close the browser, and when I open it hours later/next morning, I am still logged in!
- This seems most regular with my mobile phone (Android 2.3)
- The Admin panel works VERY well. If I haven;t access it in about 20-30mins it always logs me out and I have to sign in again. I would like this for the forums too!!
I do not know if what I need is a mod (hence posting in here) or just an kick up the ass for not seeing something in the Admin panel. If it is a mod, someone stick a $ figure on it and let me know because I am very interested in getting this fixed.
If I do this with the ACP (but wait about 20-30mins IIRC) when I click on any link I get a "You have been inactive for too long and your session has timed out" warning and I have to log back in again.
All I want is exactly the same for the forums. Possible?
